Jim Furyk has promised a fresh approach as the United States prepares for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor, admitting the team’s poor record in foursomes remains a significant concern. The Americans have won only three of their last 16 matches in the alternate-shot format across the previous two Ryder Cups, while similar difficulties have emerged in recent Presidents Cups.
Appointed captain earlier this year, Furyk has already overseen changes to the qualification process and introduced a new analytics group to help address weaknesses. He insisted his players would arrive better prepared than any previous US Ryder Cup squad.
The task facing the visitors is considerable. The United States has not won a Ryder Cup in Europe since its success at The Belfry in 1993.
European captain Luke Donald welcomed the challenge, warning against complacency and praising Furyk’s determination.
