Fleetwood and Lowry are tied for the lead in Abu Dhabi

Ryder Cup heroes Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry are part of a five-way tie for the lead at the DP World Tour’s penultimate tournament. Both men, fresh from helping Europe defeat the USA, carded impressive eight-under-par 64s at Yas Links to share the top spot with Adrien Saddier, Kazuma Kobori, and Richard Sterne.

Sterne of South Africa set the early pace, delivering a stunning performance that included going seven-under on the front nine and sinking a dramatic 75-foot putt for his second eagle of the day on the 18th. Fleetwood’s round was flawless, featuring eight birdies and no bogeys, while 2019 champion Lowry mixed nine birdies with a single blemish.

This event is crucial for qualification, as the field of 70 will be whittled down to the top 50 for next week's prestigious season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
