F1 unveils 2027 calendar: Monaco and Monza join expanded Sprint lineup

Formula 1 has released the first draft of the 2027 calendar, highlighted by a significant expansion of Sprint events from six to ten. For the first time, Monaco and Monza will host Sprints, alongside the opening and closing weekends of the season. The schedule also marks the return of Istanbul and Portimão, replacing Barcelona and Zandvoort.

Bahrain will again stage pre‑season testing from 24 to 27 February and host the season opener, followed by Saudi Arabia. April features a logistical triple‑header in Australia, Japan and China, while Portimão returns on 20 June.

After Budapest on 1 August, the championship pauses for over a month before resuming at Monza. Istanbul joins Baku and Singapore in an autumn triple‑header, and the season concludes with the traditional Qatar–Abu Dhabi double. The expanded Sprint format reflects rising fan interest, with F1 reporting a 12% increase in viewership and stronger engagement for qualifying.
