McIlroy doubts LIV stars’ ‘value’ as PGA return talk intensifies

Rory McIlroy has cast doubt on whether Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm ever truly “brought value” to LIV Golf, as the embattled circuit faces uncertainty following the withdrawal of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. LIV recently cancelled its season‑ending team championship and is exploring a reduced schedule for next year. Asked if its top stars should be welcomed back to the PGA Tour, McIlroy was dismissive, reiterating his long‑held stance that LIV has not benefited the sport.

While Brooks Koepka has already secured a return, McIlroy warned that the path back for remaining LIV holdouts will be difficult. Scottie Scheffler offered a more measured view, noting that some LIV players could still add value to the PGA Tour.

Meanwhile, LIV executives continue to promote a revamped “2.0” model featuring global team championships and signature events, despite reports of unpaid vendors and players. McIlroy remains sceptical about the league’s future.
