Brits joins elite club with blistering T20I hundred

Tazmin Brits entered one of cricket’s most exclusive clubs on Thursday, smashing an unbeaten 114 off 69 balls against the Netherlands to become one of only 238 players to score a T20I century. Just 55 women have reached three figures in the format, underscoring the rarity of her achievement. Brits powered South Africa to 208/1, sharing a 121‑run opening stand with Laura Wolvaardt before adding 87 with Annerie Dercksen.

The Netherlands replied with 120/8, keeping South Africa alive in a tight race for the semifinals. Brits credited coach Mandla Mashimbyi for urging late acceleration, which produced five sixes after the second drinks break. Her innings featured fifteen fours and three sixes, the highest score of the tournament so far.

Brits’ century strengthens her claim to remain in the top order, having returned with crucial runs after being benched earlier in the competition. With seven ODI hundreds as well, she continues to shape South Africa’s ambitions.
