Three uncapped players headline South Africa’s squad for Zimbabwe T20Is

South Africa have named three uncapped players for their first Women’s T20I series against Zimbabwe, beginning September 11. Captain Laura Wolvaardt will lead a refreshed squad featuring maiden call‑ups for Titans seamer Caitlin Wyngaard, U19 quick Nthabiseng Nini and Titans off‑spinner Luyanda Nzuza. The group differs sharply from the one that competed at the Women’s T20 World Cup, with only Wolvaardt, Annerie Dercksen, Karabo Meso and Kayla Reyneke returning. Several senior players are unavailable due to franchise league commitments, opening the door for emerging talent.

Additional selections include Faye Tunnicliffe, Anneke Bosch, Ayanda Hlubi, Eliz‑Mari Marx, Seshnie Naidu, Nondumiso Shangase and Miane Smit. Head coach Mandla Mashimbyi called the tour vital preparation for February’s Champions Trophy, noting the staff’s long‑term monitoring of Nini, Nzuza and Wyngaard. All five matches will be played at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, with South Africa aiming to broaden their depth ahead of a packed international calendar.
