McIlroy stays hungry after historic back‑to‑back Masters triumph

Rory McIlroy says his successful Masters title defence is not a final achievement but simply another milestone in a career he still believes has room to grow. The 36‑year‑old Northern Irishman claimed his second consecutive Green Jacket on Sunday, becoming only the fourth player — after Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods — to win back‑to‑back at Augusta National. One year removed from completing the career Grand Slam, McIlroy stressed he is not treating this latest triumph as the culmination of his ambitions.

Speaking after finishing twelve‑under at the 90th Masters, he said the victory was “just a part of the journey”, adding that he still has goals to chase while wanting to savour the moment. McIlroy admitted the feeling is surreal after waiting so long for one Masters title and then winning two in succession. He also dismissed concerns about a post‑win dip in motivation, insisting he feels energised for what comes next.
