Luca Marini flags overtaking concerns ahead of Brazil MotoGP

MotoGP riders are bracing for a weekend where grid position may matter more than ever. Luca Marini, one of the few to sample Brazil’s Goiania circuit during a promotional visit last year, believes overtaking will be the defining challenge when the championship returns to the country. The 3.82‑kilometre layout is fast yet narrow, with several tight corners and a long straight that feeds into a rapid Turn 1 — a combination Marini says naturally limits passing opportunities. Short braking zones, he noted, tend to make aggressive moves far riskier.

Despite the concerns, the track has undergone resurfacing and major facility upgrades, which were presented to riders during a recent Safety Commission meeting. The event will also carry strong local flavour, with home favourite Diogo Moreira and Italian‑Brazilian Franco Morbidelli set to draw significant support. For most of the grid, though, Brazil represents a fresh challenge — and one where qualifying could shape the entire weekend.
