Marini confident ahead of Sachsenring: ‘We can make the step we need’

Luca Marini heads into the German Grand Prix aiming to extend his consistent run of Sunday points finishes and close the five‑point gap separating him from the top ten in the standings. The Honda rider has scored in every main race this season and believes the Sachsenring, the shortest circuit on the calendar at 3.671 km but home to the dramatic Turn 11 “Waterfall,” offers a chance to continue that momentum. Marini recalled last year’s strong result on his return from injury, noting that the team’s recent work has produced “acceptable” outcomes and that reaching Q2 remains a priority.

He is confident Honda can soon make the necessary step forward. The weekend also carries significance for Joan Mir, who recently confirmed his departure from Honda and a 2027 move to Gresini. Mir expects the unique demands of the Sachsenring to suit the improvements shown at Assen as he begins a new chapter in MotoGP.
