Gasly hails Briatore’s impact at Alpine

Pierre Gasly says “not even the sky is the limit” for Flavio Briatore as he leads Alpine’s push back toward championship contention. Briatore, who guided the Enstone outfit to titles with Michael Schumacher in the 1990s and Fernando Alonso in the 2000s, returned to Formula 1 in May 2024 as executive advisor to Renault boss Luca de Meo after years in exile following the 2008 “crash-gate” scandal.

Alpine has endured major upheaval, with CEO Laurent Rossi, team principal Otmar Szafnauer, and sporting director Alan Permane all departing. Briatore’s remit is to steady the ship and restore direction. Veteran Steve Nielsen joins on September 1 as chief motorsport operations officer, replacing Oliver Oakes, while Dave Greenwood continues as racing director. The team also prepares for a significant shift, moving from Renault works power to customer Mercedes engines in 2026.
