At the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc won both of Friday's practice sessions, surpassing Oscar Piastri's McLaren in a second, incident-filled session. Leclerc anticipated a challenging race for Ferrari going into the weekend, as his 2025 Formula One vehicle didn't appear to have the same advantages that helped him win at home the previous year.
Despite a collision with Lance Stroll, Leclerc was the fastest driver in FP1 and went on to win second practice. He started the session on the hard Pirelli tires (above) and then accelerated even further on the challenging soft C6 compound. Piastri finished FP2 the closest, behind Leclerc's 1m11.355s by only 0.038s; however, he set his lap later in the session than Leclerc when track conditions were in theory better. Piastri suffered an uncharacteristic crash into the barriers when he got his entry into Sainte Devote wrong just over 40 minutes into FP2.
