Hadjar accepts penalties and apologises to Leclerc

Isack Hadjar has apologised to Charles Leclerc and accepted that the two penalties he received at the Canadian Grand Prix were justified. The Red Bull driver finished fifth, his best result of the season, but crossed the line more than seventy seconds behind Max Verstappen after being penalised for excessive weaving while defending and later for failing to slow under double waved yellows.

Hadjar said he had no complaints about the sanctions, admitting he struggled for pace throughout the race despite feeling strong on Saturday. He described the car as difficult to drive and said he needs to understand why performance dropped so sharply. Reflecting on the near‑miss with Leclerc, Hadjar conceded he was “too harsh” and explained that confusion over the Ferrari’s positioning led to the aggressive moves. He stressed he never intended to force Leclerc onto the grass and apologised, calling the incident “a bit stupid” on his part.
