Norris backs Hamilton in push for greater driver influence

Lando Norris has reinforced Lewis Hamilton’s call for drivers to gain meaningful influence in discussions over Formula 1’s long‑term direction, as debate continues around the 2026 regulations. The FIA has already introduced several adjustments at the Miami Grand Prix following sustained criticism from leading names, and technical chiefs have now agreed in principle to abandon the planned 50/50 power split by 2027. Hamilton argued that drivers remain excluded from key decision‑making despite regular meetings, insisting that the grid deserves a formal place at the table.

Norris echoed that sentiment, stressing that both competitors and fans want a return to the flat‑out racing that defined earlier eras. He highlighted car weight, tyre behaviour and the ability to follow closely as priorities, criticising the current reliance on battery deployment and aerodynamic tricks. The reigning world champion said F1 must move away from “yo‑yo racing” and towards pack battles reminiscent of karting, where slipstreaming and constant pressure define the spectacle.
