Ferrari expects rivals to adopt ‘Macarena’ wing in 2027

Ferrari’s bold technical direction is reshaping the 2026 season, and Frederic Vasseur is convinced the impact will extend into 2027. Speaking to Auto Hebdo, he said he has pushed the team to embrace risk, a philosophy reflected in innovations like the rotating rear wing and the exhaust‑tip fin first seen on the SF‑26. Both solutions have already appeared on rival cars, with Red Bull, McLaren and others adopting their own interpretations. Vasseur noted that Ferrari had previously operated too comfortably, but this year’s aggressive choices—especially the so‑called “Macarena” rear wing—marked a cultural shift.

He expects widespread imitation next season, arguing that teams naturally converge after the first year of new regulations. Ferrari, he added, experimented confidently in areas such as the chassis and aerodynamic concepts, even if initial certainty was limited. As development continues, Vasseur believes the Macarena will become a standard feature across the grid in 2027.
