Hamilton’s Barcelona win rewrites the record books

Lewis Hamilton’s Barcelona triumph marked a historic moment in an already extraordinary career. After a difficult 2025 season without a single podium for Ferrari, the seven‑time world champion returned in 2026 with renewed determination, collecting top‑three finishes in Shanghai, Montreal and Monaco before finally securing his first victory in red. The win was the 106th of his career and made him the seventh‑oldest driver ever to win a Grand Prix at 41 years, five months and seven days, surpassing Nigel Mansell’s 1994 benchmark by two months.

Hamilton’s success also delivered the 250th victory for a Ferrari‑powered car, extending the marque’s advantage over Mercedes. Remarkably, he is now the only driver in Formula 1 history to win races in his twenties, thirties and forties. That record could eventually be matched by Max Verstappen or Kimi Antonelli, both already winners as teenagers, but for now Hamilton stands alone, adding another chapter to his enduring legacy.
