Ronchi set for Renegades move after India series farewell

New Zealand batting coach Luke Ronchi will depart his role following this year’s home series against India, having accepted the head coach position with the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League. Ronchi, who took over as New Zealand’s full‑time batting coach in 2020, was part of a golden era that included the 2021 World Test Championship title, two T20 World Cup final appearances and a Champions Trophy run in 2025. He also oversaw historic series wins, including a 3‑0 Test sweep and ODI victories in India, plus the recent Test success in England.

Test captain Tom Latham praised Ronchi’s cultural impact and his work developing the batting group, calling him a “valued member” whose influence was felt across the squad. Reflecting on his tenure, Ronchi described coaching New Zealand as a dream come true. New Zealand Cricket will name his successor later, while Cameron White joins Melbourne Stars as head coach.
