Lech Poznań claimed the Polish Super Cup for the seventh time

Lech Poznań claimed the Polish Super Cup for the seventh time on Thursday, defeating Górnik Zabrze 3–1 and gaining momentum before their Champions League qualifying clash with AGF. Coach Niels Frederiksen expressed satisfaction with the performance, noting it was the team’s first official match of the season and that improvements are still needed. The victory marks Frederiksen’s third trophy with Lech, following back‑to‑back league titles. He revealed he had challenged his players to begin a new tradition of opening each season with silverware.

Frederiksen praised his side’s defensive compactness and pressing but highlighted issues in possession, particularly in the first third. Lech once again showed resilience, overturning a deficit as they often did last season. The coach stressed the importance of mental strength, saying matches are won “with your head” as much as with technical quality. Lech now travel to Randers to face Danish champions AGF in Tuesday’s decisive qualifier.
