Bangladesh celebrate landmark Test sweep over Pakistan

Bangladesh completed a milestone achievement by sealing their first home Test series victory over Pakistan, wrapping up a 78‑run win in the second match to secure a 2‑0 sweep. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto praised his squad’s commitment, stressing that the breakthrough reflects long‑term investment in a stable core. He highlighted the transformation in Bangladesh’s pace attack, which delivered 18 wickets across two demanding Tests, with Nahid Rana leading the way with 11.

Shanto also credited the lower order for crucial contributions that shaped victories in Mirpur and Sylhet. Veteran Mushfiqur Rahim, named Player of the Series after scoring 253 runs, spoke of the emotional significance of the achievement and pointed to Litton Das’s first‑innings century as a decisive moment. The result lifts Bangladesh to fifth in the ICC World Test Championship standings. Ahead lie challenging away tours to Australia and South Africa, assignments Shanto believes will further test and strengthen his developing side.
