Walsh takes charge of Zimbabwe’s bowling unit

Courtney Walsh has been appointed bowling coach of Zimbabwe’s men’s team following a Zimbabwe Cricket board meeting on June twenty‑three. The former West Indies fast‑bowling great had served as a consultant during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, where Zimbabwe stunned Australia and Sri Lanka to top their group, advance to the Super Eights and secure qualification for the 2028 edition. 

Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed Walsh’s full‑time role while retaining the core staff under head coach Justin Sammons. Dion Ebrahim continues as assistant coach for batting, and Stuart Matsikenyeri remains fielding and lower‑order batting coach. Chamu Chibhabha will work alongside senior team manager Dilip Chouhan as part of a succession plan, while Elton Chigumbura stays on as U19 head coach. 

Zimbabwe are currently hosting Bangladesh across formats and recently celebrated their biggest Test win, defeating the visitors by an innings and eighty‑five runs in Harare under new captain Richard Ngarava.
