India call up Shedge after Reddy suffers quadriceps injury

India have named Suryansh Shedge as the replacement for injured all‑rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy ahead of the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England. Reddy experienced discomfort in his left quadriceps following the third ODI against Afghanistan on June twentieth, and subsequent medical assessment confirmed he would require rehabilitation, ruling him out of both tours.

Shedge, twenty‑three, joins the squad after an impressive campaign with India A during the recent tri‑series in Sri Lanka, where he scored 147 runs in five matches and contributed 23 overs with the ball. He also excelled for Mumbai in their triumphant 2024‑25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy run, striking 131 lower‑order runs at a remarkable 251.92 strike rate. His inclusion provides India with a versatile middle‑order option capable of impacting both disciplines. The injury to Reddy is a setback, but Shedge’s form ensures India retain balance as they prepare for two challenging series.
