New owners take charge of Colombo Kaps

Colombo Kaps, previously known as the Colombo Strikers, will enter Lanka Premier League Season 6 under new leadership after IPG Global confirmed the franchise’s takeover by Witness Sports Alliance LLC. The ownership group, headed by Saranyan Palaniswamy and KC Shyam Kangayan, replaces former proprietor Murfad Mustafa, a Dubai‑based businessman linked to the Faza Group. The transition arrives just weeks before the tournament begins on July 7 and runs through August 8.

The franchise has already moved to secure a strong domestic core, pre‑signing Sri Lanka internationals Kusal Mendis and Kamindu Mendis as part of its early roster planning. LPL director Samantha Dodanwela welcomed the new investors, emphasising Colombo’s importance within Sri Lankan cricket and the league’s broader ambitions. IPG Global chairman Anil Mohan added that committed ownership and established local talent position the team to compete effectively. Witness Sports Alliance stated its intention to build a disciplined, modern franchise focused on fan connection and long‑term value.
