Martin celebrates ‘huge step forward’ after productive Jerez test

Jorge Martin left the Jerez MotoGP test encouraged by what he called a “big improvement”, despite finishing only eleventh while fellow Aprilia riders Ai Ogura, Raul Fernandez and Marco Bezzecchi topped the times. After missing part of pre‑season due to surgery, the Spaniard used the in‑season test to evaluate components he had not previously tried, alongside fresh developments from Aprilia. Martin said every item delivered a positive step and that his feeling was immediately better than during Sunday’s race, where rear‑grip issues limited him to fourth.

He explained that the team had identified the tyre as the cause of his difficulties, not the bike’s balance, and that each new part helped him turn more naturally and gain extra traction. Martin declined to specify the components but stressed the need to adapt to maintain consistency. He remains second in the standings, eleven points behind Bezzecchi, who tested a radical new front fairing.
