Bahrain poised to open the 2027 F1 season

The 2027 Formula 1 season is expected to begin in Bahrain, with the Sakhir circuit set to reclaim its early‑season slot after missing out this year due to conflict in the Gulf region. The recent confirmation of Turkey’s return to the calendar has clarified the framework for next year, but the decisive factors are contractual obligations and the timing of Ramadan. When Melbourne renewed its deal in 2022, it secured the right to host the season opener five times between 2023 and 2037, two of which have already been used. In 2027, however, Ramadan will run from 7 February to 8 March, avoiding clashes with the likely start of the championship.

As a result, the season is expected to open on 14 March in Bahrain, with Australia shifting to the third round, mirroring the structure seen between 2022 and 2024. Melbourne still holds three remaining opportunities to stage the opener through 2037.
