Rubel Hossain ends international career after 16 years of service to Bangladesh

Bangladesh fast bowler Rubel Hossain has announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to a career defined by raw pace and memorable spells. The thirty‑six‑year‑old confirmed the decision in an emotional Facebook post, writing that the national jersey would always remain close to his heart but that the time had come to say goodbye. Although stepping away from international duty, Rubel stated he intends to continue competing in domestic cricket and expressed gratitude to his family, friends, media members and supporters, hoping they will stand by him in the next chapter of his career.

Rubel last represented Bangladesh in 2021 during a series against New Zealand. He concludes his international journey with thirty‑six Test wickets, one hundred twenty‑nine ODI scalps and twenty‑eight dismissals in T20Is. His most recent appearance came in 2024 domestic cricket for Prime Bank Cricket Club, marking the final stage of a long and impactful career.
