Bangladesh hand Hridoy test debut and recall pace trio

Bangladesh have strengthened their squad for Australia’s tour by recalling Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana and Mustafizur Rahman for the three‑match T20I series in Chattogram, while also handing Towhid Hridoy a place in the Test squad for the one‑off match against Zimbabwe in Harare. The 15‑man Test group features uncapped seamer Robiul Haque, with chief selector Habibul Bashar confirming that Hridoy will also serve as T20I vice‑captain under Litton Kumar Das following Saif Hassan’s decision to step down.

Tanzim Hasan Shakib, Ripon Mondol and Mohammad Saifuddin, part of the recent New Zealand series, have been omitted as selectors prioritised experience and workload management. Bashar said Hridoy’s first‑class record and ability to play impactful innings made him a strong red‑ball option. He also revealed that Mehidy Hasan Miraz requested a break from the Zimbabwe Test. Bangladesh are expected to retain the same XI for the third ODI against Australia.
