Senegalese Federation responds to CAF decision with official statement

The Senegalese Football Federation has sharply criticised the latest ruling from CAF’s Appeals Committee regarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco. The committee upheld Morocco’s appeal, declaring the initial Disciplinary Committee decision invalid due to a failure to respect the appellant’s right to be heard.

In its reassessment, the Appeals Committee determined that Senegal’s conduct fell under Articles 82 and 84 of the tournament regulations. As a result, CAF ruled that Senegal had violated Article 82 and awarded the match to Morocco by a 3–0 forfeit, applying Article 84.

Senegal condemned the verdict as unprecedented, unfair and damaging to African football’s credibility. The federation announced it will immediately take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne to defend its rights and protect the integrity of Senegalese football. It also pledged to keep supporters informed as the legal process unfolds.
