Lewis Hamilton has endorsed the addition of an eleventh team to Formula 1 in 2026. In 2026, Cadillac F1, driven by Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez, is scheduled to enter the competition. The seven-time champion has called it "amazing" despite some people being critical of the admission of another team to Formula One.
Cadillac has had a very turbulent road to the Formula One grid. Formula One Management turned down the application in January 2024, despite the team having received the FIA's first clearance in 2023. The team, which was run by Michael Andretti at the time, kept accumulating resources, including a new facility at Silverstone, in order to enter the grid in 2026. Andretti's step back and General Motors' increased involvement with its Cadillac brand marked a turning point. The American team has added Colton Herta, a driver in the IndyCar Series, as a test driver in addition to Perez and Bottas.
