Dallas Mavericks have waived John Poulakidas, according to Marc Stein, as they finalize their roster ahead of the new NBA season. The decision opens one of the franchise’s three two-way contract slots before Wednesday’s matchup against the Houston Rockets.
Seth Lundy could emerge as a candidate to fill the vacancy. Selected 46th overall by Atlanta in the 2023 Draft, the guard recently featured in Dallas’ final preseason game against the Hawks.
Poulakidas leaves after showing considerable shooting potential at Yale, where he averaged 19.4 points and 3.3 rebounds during the 2024–25 college season, connecting on 39.9% of his three-point attempts.
He later played in the G League before appearing in 13 NBA games for Dallas last season, averaging 8.8 points while shooting 40.3% from beyond the arc.
Veteran Dwight Powell’s contract situation remains another factor in Dallas’ final roster decisions.
