Marquez backs Acosta as MotoGP’s next standard‑bearer

Marc Marquez believes Pedro Acosta has the talent to become the leading figure of MotoGP’s next generation. With Ducati Lenovo preparing for an all‑Spanish lineup in 2027 and 2028, the veteran has praised the 22‑year‑old, who will join him after leaving KTM. Despite still chasing his first premier‑class victory, Acosta is widely regarded as one of the grid’s brightest prospects.

Marquez and Acosta have shared mutual respect during their seasons together, though their dynamic will be intriguing given the eleven‑year age gap. Speaking to Inews, Marquez said Acosta is the rider best positioned to guide the future of the championship, noting they will race side by side on what he considers the strongest bike in the field.

He also highlighted other emerging talents such as David Alonso, Brian Uriarte and Maximo Quiles, while joking that at 33 he still keeps them behind him. For Ducati, the new era begins with this Spanish duo.
