Wellenreuther set for Wolfsburg move as Feyenoord line up Ernst

Feyenoord are set to lose captain Timon Wellenreuther, with German reports indicating the goalkeeper will join relegated Wolfsburg. According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the 30‑year‑old is expected to sign a three‑year contract, with the Bundesliga side paying €1 million for his transfer. Wellenreuther arrived from Anderlecht in 2023 and made 125 appearances for Feyenoord, earning the captaincy under former manager Robin van Persie in 2025.

The club’s leadership duo, general manager Robert Eenhoorn and technical director Devy Rigaux, have already moved to secure his successor. Hertha BSC goalkeeper Tjark Ernst, 23, is set to join Feyenoord after the Dutch side activated his €5 million release clause. Ernst will undergo medical tests later this week. The young German, who previously played for VfL Bochum, has featured in 93 matches for Hertha’s second‑tier squad and is expected to take over the starting role in Rotterdam.
