Van Bronckhorst hails Barcelona as world’s best after heavy defeat

Giovanni van Bronckhorst admitted his Feyenoord side were outclassed after Barcelona’s emphatic 5‑1 win at the Spotify Camp Nou, calling the Catalan giants “the best team in the world right now.” The Dutch manager offered no excuses for the defeat, acknowledging a clear gulf between the two teams while insisting Feyenoord had not travelled simply to defend. According to Mundo Deportivo, he also backed Hansi Flick’s squad to go on and win the Champions League.

Asked about Lamine Yamal, Van Bronckhorst was unequivocal in his admiration, comparing the teenager to Messi and Ronaldinho and predicting he could win the Ballon d’Or, with the only question being when. The former Barça defender highlighted Yamal’s extraordinary talent as a defining factor in the match. Despite the setback, Van Bronckhorst stressed that Feyenoord would learn from the experience, recognising Barcelona’s brilliance as a benchmark for Europe’s elite.
