Scheffler relishes home comfort as he defends CJ Cup title

Scottie Scheffler is back on familiar ground this week as he prepares to defend his PGA Tour CJ Cup Byron Nelson title in McKinney, Texas. The world No. 1 dominated last year with a record‑tying 72‑hole score and an eight‑shot victory at TPC Craig Ranch, a venue just a short drive from home. After battling the demanding greens at Aronimink during the PGA Championship, where he finished seven shots behind winner Aaron Rai, Scheffler welcomed a quieter routine of rest, local practice and a relaxed pro‑am.

Life has changed significantly since the birth of his second child, Remy, in March, prompting adjustments to his schedule and time at tournaments. Despite the added responsibilities, Scheffler continues to perform at an elite level, recording ten top‑twenty‑five finishes in 2026, including a win at La Quinta and three runner‑up results. He believes the redesigned greens at Craig Ranch offer a chance to reset his putting and maintain strong momentum.
