Napoli's Champions League spot in balance after last-gasp Bologna loss

Napoli’s push for next season’s Champions League remains uncertain after a dramatic 3–2 home defeat to Bologna, sealed by Jonathan Rowe’s acrobatic final volley. The loss leaves Antonio Conte’s side second in Serie A, three points ahead of Roma with two games left. Victory would have mathematically secured qualification thanks to Napoli’s superior head‑to‑head record over Roma, but the setback keeps both the Giallorossi and Como, five points behind, within reach.

Last season’s champions have taken only five points from their last five matches, adding pressure at a crucial stage. Conte may also be without Kevin De Bruyne for the trip to relegated Pisa after the Belgian missed Monday’s match due to a heavy clash of heads in training. Speaking to DAZN, Conte revealed the midfielder required four stitches after splitting his cheek open. Napoli now easy face Pisa and Udinese knowing any further slip could jeopardise their UCL return.
