Athapaththu surges toward No.1 as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh stars climb T20I ranking

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu has made significant strides on the latest ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings following her Player‑of‑the‑Series performance in the 3‑0 sweep of Bangladesh. The veteran amassed 115 runs and claimed four wickets, lifting her to forty‑first among T20I bowlers and third on the all‑rounder list, overtaking India’s Deepti Sharma and Australia’s Ash Gardner. Only Melie Kerr and Hayley Matthews now sit above her. Sri Lanka enjoyed further gains, with Harshita Samarawickrama rising to joint twentieth and Imesha Dulani climbing to forty‑ninth among batters, while Kavisha Dilhari and Malki Madara improved their bowling positions.

Bangladesh also saw encouraging movement despite the series defeat, as Sharmin Akhter Supta, Dilara Akter, Shorna Akter and Sultana Khatun all advanced. The ODI rankings also shifted after Pakistan’s emphatic win over Zimbabwe, with Sidra Amin, Sadaf Shamas, Nashra Sandhu and captain Fatima Sana all making upward progress following strong performances in Karachi.
