Barcelona plot swoop for Alessandro Bastoni with five-year deal on the table

Barcelona have identified Alessandro Bastoni as their priority target to reinforce a defence weakened by Iñigo Martínez’s departure and exposed throughout their Champions League campaign. The Inter Milan centre‑back sits at the top of the club’s shortlist, with Mundo Deportivo reporting that Barça are prepared to offer a five‑year contract running until June 2031. However, the move is far from straightforward. Hansi Flick has yet to give final approval, preferring to wait until the end of the season before endorsing the transfer, even though he views Bastoni as a high‑level option aligned with Deco’s recruitment plans.

Negotiations with Inter represent an even greater challenge. The Nerazzurri are reluctant to lose a key pillar of their squad and have set a €55‑60 million valuation that Barcelona must meet. The Catalans do, however, have the player’s backing. Despite recent criticism with Italy, Bastoni has reportedly made Barcelona his preferred destination.
