Chahar rejoins Surrey for key championship stretch

Rahul Chahar is heading back to Surrey for an eight‑game County Championship stint, marking his return after a spectacular debut last September. In that lone appearance, he claimed ten wickets, including a remarkable 8 for 51 in the second innings — the best first‑class figures by a Surrey debutant, surpassing William Mudie’s 166‑year‑old mark. Chahar will rejoin the squad for the final eight fixtures, beginning June 7 against Hampshire at the Oval.

The 26‑year‑old expressed enthusiasm about returning, noting his positive experience and ambition to help Surrey chase further success in 2026. Director of men’s cricket Alec Stewart praised Chahar’s impact and welcomed the added quality he brings to the attack.

Before linking up with Surrey, Chahar remains committed to the IPL, where he features for the Chennai Super Kings through the end of May.
