Former Australian player Jamie Siddons has been appointed as the new head coach of the Sri Lanka women’s cricket team. He succeeds Rumesh Ratnayake, who held the position commencing February 2023.
During Ratnayake's tenure, the squad, captained by Chamari Athapaththu, secured a historic victory against India to win their first-ever Asia Cup T20 title in 2024. Siddons brings significant experience, holding a Level 3 coaching qualification. Previously, he managed the Bangladesh men's national side between 2007 and 2011. Additionally, he led the Wellington Firebirds in New Zealand and the South Australia team until 2020.
As a player, the sixty-one-year-old participated in one ODI for Australia and captained Victoria and South Australia over a 160-game first-class career. Now, Siddons aims to prepare the Sri Lankan squad for the upcoming 2026 Women's T20 World Cup in England. His coaching tenure begins with a series in Bangladesh slated for April and May 2026.
