Chaos in Morocco: coach Regragui resigns as Federation response awaited

Morocco’s head coach Walid Regragui has surprisingly submitted his resignation. The failed Panenka penalty by Brahim Diaz inflicted a deep wound within Moroccan football history, extinguishing the enthusiasm of an environment that dreamed of bringing a trophy missing since 1976. Consequently, Regragui decided to resign, submitting his letter directly to the Federation.

This choice reflects his realization that his future would forever remain tied to that bitter result. As reported by Foot Mercato, the ball is now with the Moroccan Football Federation, which must decide whether to accept or reject the coach's offer. If Regragui remains, he will guide a supportive squad toward the 2026 World Cup. Otherwise, it becomes a desperate race against time to find a successor and open a new cycle.
