Switching from Ducati to KTM was 'close to a shock' for Bastianini

Enea Bastianini candidly detailed his disastrous 2025 debut season with Tech3 KTM. After leaving Ducati, the RC16 immediately clashed with his style, leading to a very severe initial crash. Bastianini struggled to adapt, finishing a distant 14th and scoring far fewer points than factory counterpart Pedro Acosta.

He described the transition as a near "shock." His main technical issue involved soft tires causing the rear to push the front, hindering cornering. Consequently, he suffered during qualifying, though medium tires often allowed for strong Sunday recoveries. However, starting weekends on the back foot proved insurmountable. Even the post-season Valencia test failed to provide clear answers regarding chassis differences, leaving him with lingering doubts.

Now facing the final year of his contract, the Italian admits the upcoming Sepang test is crucial. He aims to finally master the setup, maximize the three days, and leave his consistent technical and adaptation struggles far behind.
