Tiger Woods has undergone a successful lumbar disc replacement, his second back surgery in just over a year. The 49-year-old decided on the procedure after scans revealed a collapsed disc, fragments, and a compromised spinal canal were causing pain and limiting his mobility.
This operation, performed in New York, adds to an extensive list of injuries for the former world number one, who also ruptured his left Achilles in March.
Woods has not competed in a PGA Tour event since The Open Championship in 2024. He had planned a return at The Genesis Invitational earlier this year but withdrew following the death of his mother. His only competitive appearances in the current year have been within the new TGL indoor golf league. While the surgery was deemed a success, there is currently no established timeline for his return to the golf course.
