Fernando Alonso, the 2-time Formula 1 champion has struggled with poor grip and that caused a lack of pace in the qualifying round for the Portuguese Grand Prix where he was brought down by Esteban Ocon, his Alpine teammate. Alonso had a good enough lap in the final practice for third deleted, but still, he was eliminated from the Q2 after laps slower than Ocon by 9/10ths. This gave the Alpine team an unexpected fun weekend at the Algrave.
When Ocon went sixth qualifying in the 2nd Q3 appearance in a row, Alonso will begin the race 12th. Two weeks back at Imola, Alonso thought that the problem was with him, but in Portugal, he felt that in qualifying the car was in a very bad situation and so he felt that there was a need to study the loss of grip.
