Istanbul to host 2027 Spanish Super Cup over scheduling conflict

The 2027 Spanish Super Cup is moving to Istanbul from February 2-7, officials confirmed . Spanish Football Federation President Rafael Louzan Abal clarified that the relocation stems entirely from a scheduling clash with the Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, completely dismissing regional security concerns.

Organizers initiated talks before recent regional tensions, realizing the dates overlapped with the continental tournament. The shift was mutually agreed with the Saudi government and marketing agency Sela. All participating clubs, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, approved the change, while local giants like Galatasaray will provide vital stadium infrastructure.

Financial terms mirror existing lucrative agreements, with minor improvements. Furthermore, discussions are underway to extend the federation's partnership with Saudi Arabia beyond 2030, highlighting a strong tri-national alliance.
