Marseille cruise past Strasbourg with dominant 4–0 victory

Marseille launched their Ligue 1 season in emphatic fashion, sweeping aside ten‑man Strasbourg 4–0 at the Velodrome. With Bruno Genesio and Hugo Oliveira both debuting on the benches, it was the hosts who immediately set the tone. Marseille controlled the first half without finding a breakthrough, but the match changed instantly after the restart. Igor Paixao surged down the left and combined with Angel Gomes, allowing Amine Gouiri to tap in the opener seconds into the second period.

Strasbourg’s hopes collapsed in the 59th minute when Samir Mourabet was sent off for a reckless challenge. Three minutes later, Guela Doue fouled Paixao in the box, and Gouiri calmly converted the penalty for his second of the night. With the visitors overwhelmed, Marseille added late gloss through Keyliane Abdallah in the 89th minute and Pierre‑Emile Hojbjerg in stoppage time. Genesio’s new era began with a commanding and confidence‑boosting victory.
