Lukaku blasts Napoli and calls last season ‘the worst of my career’

Romelu Lukaku has labelled his final season in Italy as the worst of his career, speaking after making his Champions League debut for Fenerbahçe. The Belgian striker came off the bench in the closing minutes of the play‑off first leg against Lyon, and later discussed both his fitness and his turbulent exit from Napoli. Interviewed by former player Gilles De Bilde, Lukaku insisted he is “100% fit” and suggested Italian media questioned his condition to “boycott” him.

He revealed he signed a one‑year deal with an option for another and hopes to honour both seasons before returning home, aiming to play until 2030. Reflecting on his departure, he said he “heard things and saw choices” that convinced him leaving was best. Lukaku’s relationship with Italian football ended on a sour note after multiple spells in Serie A, but he believes he can still make a major impact during the final years of his career.
