Fatima Sana returns to captain Pakistan at the Women’s Asia Cup

Fatima Sana will once again lead Pakistan at the Women’s Asia Cup, with selectors confirming a 15‑member squad for the eight‑team event beginning in Dubai on August 28. Sana missed the T20Is in Sri Lanka due to her commitments with Birmingham Phoenix, becoming the first Pakistani woman to feature in the competition. Also returning are Sadia Iqbal, absent from the Sri Lanka tour, and Gull Feroza, who played only the ODI leg. Pakistan’s squad includes Ayesha Zafar, Eman Naseer, Eyman Fatima, Momina Riasat and wicketkeeper Muneeba Ali Siddiqui, among others, with four reserves named.

Sadia Iqbal, Waheeda Akhtar and Najiha Alvi will not participate in the Asian Games in Japan, where Aliya Riaz, Tasmia Rubab and Humna Bilal join instead. Veteran pacer Diana Baig missed out on both squads. Pakistan will hold a ten‑day camp in Lahore until August 25 before opening their Asia Cup campaign against Thailand on September 1.
