UAE bowlers dominate as hosts cruise past Indonesia in Asia Cup opener

The UAE claimed their first win of the Women’s Asia Cup with a commanding six‑wicket victory over Indonesia, powered by a sharp bowling display and a composed chase. Captain Esha Oza delivered an impressive all‑round performance, scoring 30 from 29 balls and taking two wickets to set the tone for the hosts. Opting to field, the UAE struck immediately as Suraksha Kotte removed two batters in her opening over, triggering a collapse that left Indonesia four down inside seven overs.

Indonesian skipper Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini and Desi Wulandari attempted to rebuild, adding 34 runs across a patient 9.1‑over stand, but the UAE attack maintained tight control. Kotte finished with 3 for 16, while Oza, Heena Hotchandani and Vaishnave Mahesh claimed two wickets each. Chasing 74, the UAE steadied after an early loss through a 45‑run partnership between Oza and Rinitha Rajith, sealing a comfortable win with 6.5 overs remaining.
