Club Brugge snap up Mallorca starlet Jan Virgili

Club Brugge have completed the signing of Jan Virgili after triggering the Mallorca forward’s twelve‑million‑euro release clause, securing the twenty‑year‑old on a contract running until 2031. His future had become one of the summer’s major talking points in Mallorca, where the club managed to retain key figures such as Pablo Torre and Martin Valjent but ultimately failed to convince Virgili to stay.

The Catalan winger was unwilling to play in La Liga 2 following a breakout top‑flight campaign. Although his return of two goals and four assists was modest, his flair, unpredictability and rapid development made him one of Spain’s most exciting prospects. Brugge now offer him a first experience abroad and a platform in the Champions League, where he is expected to fill the void left by Christos Tzolis. Mallorca have moved quickly to respond, signing Josep Cerda from FC Andorra as they build a squad capable of returning immediately to La Liga.
