Blazers give Tonje a new chance with a two‑way deal

Agents George Roussakis and Mark Bartelstein told Shams Charania that the Trail Blazers will sign the Nebraska native to a two‑way contract.

Tonje spent his rookie season on a two‑way with Utah before being traded to Boston in February. The Celtics declined to extend a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent. His NBA impact has been limited—six games, 2.5 points in seven minutes—but his G League production was strong: 18.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and efficient shooting across 43 appearances.

His college journey through Colorado State, Missouri and Wisconsin shaped his adaptability, further confirmed by a solid Summer League showing. Portland has a two‑way slot available, giving Tonje a meaningful opportunity to earn a long‑term role.
