Rudi Garcia has left his role as manager of the Belgium national team

Belgium will not renew Rudi Garcia’s contract, ending his 18‑month tenure despite the team reaching this month’s World Cup quarter‑finals. The 62‑year‑old Frenchman’s deal expires at the end of July, and his future had been uncertain following an inconsistent tournament capped by a narrow defeat to eventual champions Spain. In a statement, sports director Vincent Mannaert praised Garcia for stabilising the Red Devils during a difficult sporting and financial period, highlighting his role in restoring cohesion and delivering a respectable World Cup result.

Garcia was appointed to guide Belgium through a transitional phase and succeeded in re‑establishing structure within the squad, but the federation has decided to begin a new cycle. Mannaert thanked Garcia and his staff for their work and confirmed preparations are underway to select the next national coach. Belgium now turns the page as it looks to build a refreshed project ahead of upcoming international competitions.
