Ngarava and Nkomo take charge as Zimbabwe reshapes its leadership

Zimbabwe Cricket has confirmed a revamped leadership setup, appointing Richard Ngarava as captain of the men’s Test and ODI sides and Josephine Nkomo as leader of the women’s team. Sikandar Raza retains the T20I captaincy, ensuring continuity in the shortest format. The changes, endorsed by the ZC Board after recommendations from its Cricket Committee, come at a pivotal moment for Zimbabwe’s cricketing ambitions.

Ngarava, who recently captained the one‑off Test against Bangladesh, will be supported by Brian Bennett as Test vice‑captain and Raza as ODI deputy, while Ngarava himself serves as vice‑captain in T20Is. In the women’s setup, Nkomo is joined by Nomvelo Sibanda as vice‑captain, forming an experienced leadership duo. ZC chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani emphasised integrity, resilience and inspiration as key criteria behind the appointments. With both teams seeking to build on recent progress, the new structure aims to strengthen stability and foster long‑term growth across formats.
